Accessing Care Through Medicare
Medicare provides a valuable option for those seeking mental health support. To access psychology services under Medicare, simply follow these steps:
1. Visit Your GP: Discuss your mental health concerns with your GP, who can prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan for you.
2. Send Your Plan to Us: Have your GP fax your Mental Health Treatment Plan to Takes Care Specialist Centre.
3. Book an Appointment: Contact us to schedule your sessions. Payment required on booking.
With a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you are entitled to up to 10 subsidised sessions per year, significantly reducing out-of-pocket costs and making mental health support more accessible.
NDIS Participants
As a registered NDIS provider, we offer comprehensive psychological services tailored to individuals with psychosocial disabilities. Our process includes:
1. Complete the NDIS Referral Form: Start by filling out the NDIS Psychology Referral Form.
2. Needs Assessment: Our Principal Psychologist will conduct a thorough needs assessment.
3. Service Agreement: We’ll create and sign a Service Agreement that aligns with your goals.
4. Book an Appointment: Once your plan is in place, book your sessions.
Our psychologists work closely with NDIS participants and their families to ensure that each plan is regularly reviewed and adjusted to meet changing needs.
Understanding Our Fees
Fees for our psychology services depend on the duration and type of consultation. During your initial enquiry, our admin staff will provide detailed information about our fees, as well as any Medicare rebates you may be eligible for. Please ensure to explain if you are seeking therapy or a report for a specific purpose.
NDIS Participants: We adhere to the NDIS Price Guide for our services.
Payment: Payment is due at the end of each session, and Medicare rebates are processed the same day.
Additional Fees: Additional charges may apply for reports or correspondence requested by third parties, such as solicitors. These fees are not covered by Medicare.
Cancellation Policy: Please notify us at least two business days in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment to avoid a late cancellation fee, which is not covered by Medicare.

Using this understanding, together with forming alliances with the loved ones of each participant, the psychologist or the counsellor would then plan the required sessions and activities, so that each participant can travel towards their goals.
In each case, together with the NDIS participant and their loved ones, the psychologist or the counsellor would revise the plan to ensure that it stays current and suited to the need of the participant.
Opting to see a psychologist without a Mental Health Care Plan in Australia includes using private health insurance. Health insurance may cover a portion of the costs, reducing out-of-pocket expenses. This option provides flexibility in choosing psychologists and tailoring mental health support according to individual preferences and coverage within the insurance plan.
